After going 5-7 last year, it seemed only fitting that the Nebraska football team wasn't all that well represented in the 2008 NFL draft.
In fact, Husker fans had to wait until well into the second day before the first Husker was selected. That pick came in the fifth round, when Zack Bowman was the 142nd player taken in the draft, selected by the Chicago Bears.
Bowman was one of two Huskers taken in the second round, the other being offensive lineman Carl Nicks, who was the highest Husker lineman picked in six years.
The third and final Husker selected came in the sixth round, when Bo Ruud was taken by the New England Patriots. Ruud joins his older brother, Barrett, in the NFL. Barrett Ruud was taken in the second round in 2005 by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and is still with the team. Their father, Tom, was a Husker standout who was a first-round draft pick by the Buffalo Bills in 1975.
