Nebraska kicker Alex Henery was named the Big 12 Conference Special Teams Player of the Week after single-handedly putting all the Huskers' points on the board last week against Virginia Tech.
The junior kicker from Omaha was outstanding in the Huskers' 16-15 loss at Virginia Tech, connecting on five field goals and helping the defense with some outstanding punting.
Henery connected on field goals of 40, 27, 19, 38 and 38 yards, marking the fourth time in his career that he has recorded at least four field goals in a game for the Nebraska football team.
Henery also performed well as the team's starting punter. He had a 76-yard bomb in the first quarter and finished the day with a 41.5-yard average on six punts.
Henery has made 6-of-7 field goal attempts this season and is an impressive 32-of-36 for his career. He also earned an award as one of the "Stars of the Week" from the Lou Groza Collegiate Place Kicker Award.
You can catch Henery and the Nebraska football team in action this Saturday, as they take on Louisiana-Lafayette Saturday at Memorial Stadium. Get your tickets now at Ticket Express -- where no Husker home game is ever sold out.
