The Nebraska football team is going bowling again, but it was very close to pulling off a colossal upset.
The Nebraska defense kept Texas' quarterback Colt McCoy on his heels the whole night and nearly pulled off an upset before the Longhorns kicked a field goal as time ran out to post a 13-12 win over Nebraska in the Big 12 Championship Game.
The Huskers get a pretty nice consolation prize out of the deal, though, as they will travel to San Diego, Calif., to take on Arizona in the Pacific Life Holiday Bowl.
Nebraska is making its 46th appearance in a bowl game and second in a row, following up last year's win over Clemson in the Gator Bowl. The Huskers will take on a Wildcat team that finished second in the Pac 10 and upset USC to close out the regular season.
Nebraska has never beaten Arizona. The Wildcats beat Nebraska 23-20 in the Holiday Bowl in 1998, while the two teams played to a 14-14 tie in 1961 in Lincoln.
The Nebraska defense will try to stop an Arizona offense that ranked in the top 40 this year, while the Nebraska offense will try to figure out a Wildcat defense that ranked 21st in the nation while averaging 315.8 yards allowed this season.
