While another Nebraska winter has hit the state full force, the Nebraska football team is making their way to warm and sunny San Diego to prepare for the Pacific Life Holiday Bowl.
Nebraska carries a 9-4 record into the Wednesday, Dec. 30 matchup with Arizona, who finished the season tied for runner-up in the Pac 10 Conference. This will be the second time these two teams have met in the Holiday Bowl, with Arizona winning the 1999 matchup 23-20.
Nebraska has hung its hat on its defense this year, which was led by All-American defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh. Suh led the team in tackles for the second straight year, recorded 12 sacks and won just about every possible award available for a defensive tackle. He won the Outland and Lombardi awards and finished fourth in the balloting for the Heisman Trophy.
Nebraska's offense will look to correct what was an awful performance in the Big 12 Championship. Nebraska put up just over 100 yards in total offense, the worst in recent memory, yet still were in position to pull of a major upset before a last-second field goal gave Texas a 13-12 win.
