The Holiday Bowl will be the last chance for fans with Nebraska football tickets to see the Huskers in action, as they take on Washington in a rematch of a September matchup that saw the Huskers blow out the Huskies, 56-21.

Beware the Huskies in a Holiday Bowl rematch

Fans with Nebraska football tickets for the Holiday Bowl might want to be on the lookout for some angry Huskies when the Huskers take on Washington in Qualcomm Stadium on Thursday, Dec. 30.

Nebraska manhandled Washington in September, coming into Seattle, Wash., and running over the Huskies 56-21. The second game between the two teams, however, is expected to be a closer matchup as the Huskies come in with a good deal of momentum.

After getting blown out by Oregon in early November, the Huskies were sitting with a 3-6 record and on the bubble for even qualifying for a bowl game. With two tough matchups against UCLA and Cal, and a season-ending battle with in-state rival Washington State, there wasn't much hope for Washington fans in seeing their team play in a bowl game this season.

Washington came though in the clutch, though. They dominated UCLA 24-7, pulled off a last-second 16-13 win over Cal and scored late to beat their in-state rivals 35-28 to end the season with a 6-6 mark and earn a bowl trip.

Now, the Huskies will have their sights set on a Nebraska team that came to their house and took over the place. Nebraska jumped on Washington early and blew them out in the second half, turning what was expected to be a tight matchup into a one-sided laugher. Washington will look to settle the score when they head south to San Diego.

Southern California was hit by massive amounts of rain that left more than two feet of standing water on the field at Qualcomm Stadium. Workers have removed the water from the field and the stadium held up to an earlier bowl game. The field should be in great shape and fans with tickets to the Holiday Bowl should be able to catch a great matchup between two of college football's storied programs.

Nebraska to face Washington in Holiday Bowl

Nebraska football tickets for the Holiday Bowl will give fans a chance to see the Huskers in a rare rematch situation, as Nebraska will take on Washington in the Bridgepoint Education Holiday Bowl on Dec. 30 in San Diego, Calif.
Earlier this season, the Huskers pounced on Washington on the road and came away with a 56-21, helping Nebraska on its way to a 10-2 regular season and a bid in the Big 12 Conference Championship, where they lost to Oklahoma.
Washington played one of its worst games of the season in their loss to Nebraska, but came alive late in the season and finished with a 6-6 record, earning a trip to a bowl game for the first time in several seasons.
This is the third time the Huskers have played in the Holiday Bowl, and it is also the third time they have faced a Pac 10 team in this game. Nebraska lost to Arizona in the 1998 Holiday Bowl and shut the Wildcats out in last year's classic. Nebraska is 1-3 against Pac 10 teams, including a loss to Arizona State in the 1975 Fiesta Bowl and a loss to Stanford in the 1941 Rose Bowl.
This is not the first time Nebraska has had a bowl rematch with a team they had played earlier in the year. Back in 1978, then-coach Tom Osborne defeated Oklahoma for the first time in his career, but when the Huskers lost to Missouri the following week, the Orange Bowl decided to pit the Huskers and Sooners in a rematch, which was won by Oklahoma.
